Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after his victory in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619secs off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
